Exit for Angel Investment Loco2
Addidi is delighted that one of its angel investments has had an exit. Members of Addidi Angels, the first female angel club in UK, were early investors in train travel booking website Loco2 which was sold at the start of July to Voyages-sncf.com.
With a vision for making low carbon travel feasible and fun, brother and sister team Jamie and Kate Andrews launched their first product in 2012. Since then the vision evolved to be more specific: make Europe by train as easy as possible.
With such a strong business proposition, Jamie and Kate approached Addidi Angels for help to grow their budding business. The siblings successfully pitched to a number of our Angels and soon secured not only capital but non-executive talent from our female investors; Andrea Sinclair and Mo Bulbrook.
Since then the business has gone from strength to strength. Loco2 now knits together the booking systems of rail operators in the UK and across Europe, allowing customers to book everything from a simple commute to an epic adventure.
Anna Sofat of Addidi commented:
“The founders of Loco2 rightly deserve their success. This is a brilliant story of business growth and demonstrates what can be done with hard work, a strong business ethos and determination. Congratulations to both Jamie and Kate and everyone involved.”
Commenting on the funding the company has received in a press release on the acquisition, Jamie said:
“Like any tech startup, we’ve needed financing to fund the investments we’ve made. But unlike many of our peers, Loco2 has never taken venture capital or private equity investment. Instead we’ve relied on a relatively small group of friends, family and angel investors who share our vision for European rail.
“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the many, many people whose help and advice have helped us get to this point. There are far too many people to mention, but you know who you are.”
