EGLANTINE JEBB AND HER CHAMPION MARYON STEWART WIN THE ADDIDI INSPIRATION AWARD 2010 FOR WOMEN WHO ENGINEERED SOCIAL CHANGE, IN THEIR COMMUNITIES, BY ENDEAVOUR OR ENTERPRISE.
The Award was awarded to the Female engineering Social Change/Champion polling the most votes in an online poll. Maryon Stewart was presented the Award by Juliet Wedderburn, the Head of Deutsche Bank's Private Wealth Management office in London, at the Award Reception held at the Kings Fund in the heart of the West End on Tuesday July 6th.

The Award was hosted by Addidi and marks the launch of its Make a Difference (MAD) Investment club.** The Investment Club is an exclusive collaboration between Addidi and The Big Issue Invest. Its objective is to raise funds for philanthropic investments delivering social, financial and personal returns. Being MAD has never been so good!

"It was a hotly contested Award with over 2000 votes being cast", says Anna Sofat, "the winner – Eglantine Jebb and her champion Maryon Stewart are a worthy winner. Eglantine Jebb, who was born in 1876, found the Save the Children fund in May 1919 and engineered the Declaration of Geneva on the Rights of the Child in 1924".

Her modern day champion, Maryon Stewart, the well known health guru, author and broadcaster, said
"I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to Champion Eglantyne Jebb by Addidi. Competing for this award has been a truly inspirational journey for me on many levels. It has boosted my level of courage and certainty that I can follow in her footsteps and make the world a safer place for young people through the Angelus Foundation which I am setting up with a group of world class experts, in memory of my daughter Hester.

The process has also made me familiar with the charter of the Rights of a Child, which was written by Eglantyne and endorsed by the League of Nations in 1924, and made me realise the urgent need for re-enforcement as many young people remain unprotected and in danger of exploitation by crazy chemists and drug barons throughout the world.

Knowing about the incredible achievements of Eglantyne has provided me with the resolve and determination to raise the necessary funds in order that the toxicologists, psychologists and educationists can play their part in undertaking regular analysis of new and emerging substances and implementing sound published research in order to provide adequate levels of knowledge and information for both young people and their parents".

Juliet Wedderburn, Managing Director - Head of Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management London Office says:
"It was a was a wonderful evening and Deutsche Bank is delighted to be a sponsor of the Addidi Inspiration Award for a second year. All the champions did an excellent job in presenting the case for why their nominee should win. They were all worthy winners and we all learnt something new.

As the inspirational founder of 'Save the Children' whose work last year reached over 7 million children Eglantine Jebb was clear favourite with the voters.

Anna Sofat and the Addidi team should be proud of their achievement of hosting a truly inspiring evening."

Addidi Business Angels
Addidi Business Angels is a unique investment club providing successful women with the opportunity to pool their financial resources and expertise to back early-stage business ventures. It is being launched by Addidi in response to the fact that only 5% of business-angel investors in the UK are women* - meaning much of their capital and know-how is being denied to entrepreneurs (*University of Strathclyde).

The club is seeking 100 female members who will each commit £20,000, giving a pool of £2m for investment into small growth businesses. An investment panel will filter business proposals but the members retain decision making and control. The club aims to make angel investing more accessible, convenient and fun for its members. Addidi Business Angels is currently accepting applications for membership.

Addidi Business Angels has been set up by Addidi, a boutique wealth management and lifestyle service for women. It believes that wealth should be utilised to be good to ourselves and compassionate to others. .
