Kate Cavelle is Director of Corporate Citizenship, the UK arm within Deutsche Bank responsible for community development, employee programmes and microfinance initiatives. Over the last ten years, Kate has led the expansion of the Bank's community activities and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)UK team. Kate also has responsibility for Deutsche Bank’s Art department, one of the most significant collections of contemporary works worldwide, which is committed to supporting young, up and coming artists. Annually the Bank invests over £3million to help tackle issues such as homelessness and social exclusion, and to enable young people to access top quality educational opportunities thereby achieving their full potential.
Several of the bank's UK flagship community programmes have received awards recognising their innovation and effectiveness, including the Charities Aid Foundation National Corporate and Communities Award for Outstanding Corporate Community Investment Programme, the City of London Dragon Award for Employee Volunteering, the Lloyd’s Arts & Business Innovation Prize for ‘Most groundbreaking partnership between business and the arts in the last 30 years’ and The Guardian Public Service Award.
Kate graduated from Imperial College with an MSc in Environmental Technology (following a BSc in Biology from Southampton University), where she learnt that going to the heart of power is one of the best ways to effect change, and her interest in CSR was first sparked!
Before Deutsche Bank, Kate worked at The Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum where she delivered training initiatives on CSR and building cross-sector partnerships in Mexico, Ghana, South Africa and Central and Eastern Europe.
Kate sits on the board of three charities: Heart of the City, Wessex Youth Trust and The Angus Lawson Memorial Trust.
